Meet the Candidates

My wife, two daughters, and I have been proud Riverpark homeowners since 2013. Over the years, I’ve seen what makes our neighborhood special—but I’ve also noticed where real change is needed.

The leadership of our HOA has remained fundamentally the same. In an ever-changing world, there’s been no change at the top. While consistency can bring stability, it has also led to stagnation—and in some cases, even regression.

There have been successes, like the brick-wall fence replacement and the pool expansion and slide project that my kids have loved for over seven years. But many projects since then have been wasted opportunities. The basketball court and dog park remain underused, and the promised tennis courts never materialized due to poor planning and mismanagement.

Meanwhile, our dues have steadily increased—up 6% annually since 2018. If you bought your home then, you’ve watched your HOA fees climb from $695 to $1,035, often without clear explanations for the hikes. It’s time for new people, new ideas, and real fiscal responsibility. As an entrepreneur, small business owner, craftsman, metal fabricator, and baker, I bring a hands-on, problem-solving approach.

I’ll focus on transparency in board decisions and spending, fiscal responsibility to ensure our dues are used wisely, and community engagement so your voice is heard. I’m running alongside Billie Dee Jelin and Mia Pommier, and together, we’re committed to making Riverpark stronger, smarter, and more connected.

Vote for me, Darren Etlinger, and let’s bring new energy and accountability to our community.

Hi, I’m Darren Etlinger.

Hi, neighbors! If you’ve lived in Riverpark for a while, you probably already know me—but just in case, here’s a little introduction. My name is Billie Dee Jelin, and I’ve been a part of this community since 2013, when my husband Robert and I moved in.

Over the years, I’ve been actively involved in just about every corner of Riverpark, from organizing events to maintaining community resources to attending almost every POA board meeting.

Now, I’m running for the Board of Directors because I believe our neighborhood deserves transparency, fairness, and real communication between the board and residents. Community involvement is second nature to me.

Just a few things I’ve been a part of over the years are co-founding Trunk or Treat for 4 years, National Night Out every year despite limited support from POA Board, maintaining the unofficial Riverpark Facebook and Nextdoor pages since 2013, pet advocacy, and maintaining the Riverpark Pet Registry (independent of the POA). I even ran the community newsletter from 2015-2019. When I tried to restart it, I was told it was being outsourced - which never happened.

I’ve seen too many meetings where residents ask important questions only to be brushed off with, “We’ll get to that later” or “We’ll let you know” – and then never hear back. Our fees keep going up, but expenses supposedly keep going down. Jobs seem to be handed to the same vendors over and over without a fair re-bidding process. That doesn’t sit right with me, and I know it doesn’t sit right with many of you either.

If I’m elected, I’ll make sure homeowners know exactly where their money is going, who is bidding on projects, and why financial decisions are made. I’m excited to run alongside Darren Etlinger and Mia Pommier because I know we share the same vision: a board that actually listens, communicates, and operates with integrity.

With my background in mathematics, computer science, and project management, I have the skills to cut through the nonsense and get to the root of the issues. More importantly, I have the passion to make sure Riverpark is run the way it should be—with fairness, transparency, and respect for its residents.

I’d love your support, and I look forward to making Riverpark even better—together!

Hi, I’m Billie Dee Jelin.

Hello neighbors! My name is Mia Pommier, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the POA Board of Directors. I have been a proud resident of Riverpark since 2013, where I live with my husband and two growing boys. As a mother, neighbor, and dedicated community member, I care deeply about the well-being and growth of our neighborhood.

Over the years, I’ve seen Riverpark evolve, but I’ve also noticed a growing disconnect between the Board and homeowners—especially in communication and transparency. Too often, decisions that directly impact our families and finances happen behind closed doors, leaving many in our community feeling unheard and uninformed. As someone who has hosted the National Night Out for the past four years, getting to know and listening to my neighbors, and engaging with our community at events, I understand the value of connection, inclusion and open dialogue.

I've noticed that there are opportunities for the current Board to become more inclusive and transparent, which would help homeowners stay better informed and feel more comfortable voicing their concerns. We all lead busy lives and can’t attend every meeting—but that shouldn’t mean we’re left in the dark. I am committed to making that change, and I want to create a system where information is accessible, conversations are two-way, and every homeowner feels connected and valued.

With my engineering background, I bring a strategic, analytical, and solutions-focused mindset to every challenge. My attention to detail ensures that no issue is overlooked, while my strong communication skills help me bridge gaps and foster understanding with stakeholders—whether it’s board members, homeowners or vendors. My goal is that discussions regarding our neighborhood are productive and result in decisions that benefit Riverpark as a whole. I am persistent in seeing projects through, and I approach every task with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment.

I am proud to be running alongside Darren Etlinger and Billie Dee Jelin. Together, we are committed to bringing more transparency, inclusivity, and effective communication to the Board. We are committed to representing the best interests of our neighborhood and ensuring that your voices are heard in every decision that affects us. Please vote for me, Mia Pommier. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you alongside Darren and Billie Dee and work together for a stronger, more united Riverpark.

Hi, I’m Mia Pommier.
